King David is the only person described in the Bible as being “a man after God’s own hear”—yet he was an adulterer and a murderer, among other things. His family fell apart toward the end of his life, and he made some terrible decisions along the way. But through it all, he was always ready, if not immediately, to admit he was wrong and to turn to God and ask for forgiveness.
 
David poured out his heart to God in a whole series of poems and songs that make up most of the book of Psalms.
