Written for every mom who helps too much with homework just to impress the teacher and every dad who takes credit for his daughter’s soccer success, Trophy Child will give parents the encouragement they need to nurture their kids into who God created them to be.

Our culture’s obsession with achievement often leads parents to form expectations for their kids based on the world’s standards, not on the Bible. As a result, their kids feel they never measure up.

Trophy Child will help modern Christian parents create a home where children find success in following their heavenly Father’s leading for them—and readers know the joy of seeing their children embrace their full potential as children of God.

Top Highlights

“Age does not determine adulthood. Eighteen is the legal age of an adult in this country, but I know very few eighteen-year-old adults. Adulthood defined means making adult decisions on your own. It’s about taking personal responsibility for your actions, words, reactions, and decisions. It’s about making right decisions even when you’re not being watched.” (source)

“Healthy parents know how to separate bad performance from the child’s worth. They are also able to separate a child’s poor performance from their own worth. They can encourage their kids to do better with an appropriate emotional investment in each child’s performance.” (source)

“Father, cover Sammy in the blood of Jesus, protect him from evil, and fulfill Your purpose in his life” (source)

“Motive #4: We Take Too Much Credit and Too Much Blame for the Way Our Kids Turn Out” (source)

“trophy parenting is a piece of cake. Parenting with the right motives is difficult.” (source)
