Are You Prepared to Talk with Your Child About...?

Discussing difficult topics with kids has never been easy, but in today's world, it's more difficult than ever. Gay marriage, terrorist attacks, pornography, police shootings, and yes, sex, are just some of the complex issues children will encounter in our current culture. When your child asks questions, will you have answers?

Tough Stuff Parenting will equip you to have thoughtful, age-appropriate conversations with your child. The biblically-based wisdom and practical tools you'll find inside will help you confidently engage your kid in meaningful dialogue. And when questions arise, your child will look to you first for answers instead of friends or the Internet.

Make a lasting connection with your kid by learning how to effectively discuss life's most complicated topics.

Tough Stuff Parenting is the book every parent needs. If you are looking for thoughtful ways to engage in meaningful conversations with your kids, or if you want a cheat sheet for talking about the real and important topics related to being a human, then Paul and Jim have you covered. With practical tips, deep theological insights, and real-life stories, this book will help you feel equipped as a parent and ready to engage in some of the most important cultural conversations of our time.”
Mandy Arioto, president and CEO, MOPS International

“Paul and Jim bring their considerable wisdom, biblical insight, and life experience to bear on critical issues. If I were a pastor, I'd make sure every parent in my church had a copy of this book…and I'd preach it too! Tough Stuff Parenting will strengthen our family bonds and help us leave a legacy of kids and grandkids who follow Jesus and make a kingdom impact in our world.”
Reggie McNeal, leadership consultant and author of Kingdom Come and Kingdom Collaborators

“Using biblical instruction, Paul Basden and Jim Johnson tackle the really tough stuff in their book on parenting, including sex, partying, divorce, racism, porn, drugs, alcohol, suicide, and other issues parents of teens must deal with. This is also a good resource for grandparents, as more grandparents are raising grandchildren full-time and need current, up-to-date information on problems their grandkids will likely encounter. Tough Stuff Parenting will help arm the caregiver, giving biblical answers to today's tough and sometimes life-threatening issues. I highly recommend this book—as an author, as a parent, and as a grandparent.”
Denise George, bestselling author of more than 30 books

“Raising kids can be tough, period. It’s even tougher when times are turbulent and our culture seems to have lost its moral compass. Jim and Paul, my pastors, provide insightful, practical, and biblical wisdom for parents who are knee-deep in raising their kids to be faithful in these challenging times. If you want to be a step ahead of your kids when they start asking questions about hot-button issues, you need this book!”
Logan Stout, entrepreneur, author, speaker, and founder of Dallas Patriots and IDLIFE

“Every parent knows that kids ask questions. And questions. And questions. The questions don’t slow down as the kids get older, but they become increasingly important. Jim Johnson and Paul Basden have heard a lot of those questions, and they give us (and your kids) some specific, real-world answers that really work. Jim and Paul have a way of making us smile while talking about some of the most serious topics imaginable. This is an essential guide for conversations that really matter.”
Reggie Joiner, founder and CEO of Orange, a division of the reThink Group, and the author of A New Kind of Leader

“If you already have all the answers to the tough questions of parenting, like how to talk with your kids about sex, religion, drugs, racism, and suicide, you don't need this book. Congratulations—I'm sure your kids will turn out awesome! For the rest of us who don't have all the answers, we thankfully now have this amazingly helpful resource. Solid, godly wisdom awaits you inside these pages. You'll breathe easier when the tough stuff comes, and as you apply what you've learned, I'm sure your kids will, indeed, turn out awesome.”
