Top Highlights

“Over seventy years ago, Lewis recognized two challenges facing the church: (1) Christians are largely unprepared to make the case for what they believe; and (2) many in the church still deny the need to be prepared in the first place. We are a largely anti-intellectual group, even though the history of Christianity is replete with some of the greatest thinkers who ever lived. In spite of our rich intellectual history, we have arrived at a point where there is a need to make a case for making a case.” (source)

“Boghossian made an interesting observation: Christians fail to process truth claims rationally; instead of assessing the evidence and drawing the most reasonable inference, they typically rely on personal experience, emotional response, and ‘blind faith.’ For this reason, he encourages atheists to engage Christians not on the evidence but on the way Christians evaluate truth claims in the first place.” (source)

“In all these examples, the statements of these religious leaders exist independently of any event in history. In other words, these systems rise or fall on the basis of ideas and concepts rather than on claims about a particular historical event.” (source)

“Christianity is reasonable, and it’s our Christian duty to examine and test what we believe so we can be fully convinced.” (source)

“Certainly, faith involves more than our brains, but it does not involve less.” (source)

Lead a class using the dvd, workbook and text. Compared to other studies, the materials were very inexpensive as intended. BUT even moreso it was a welcomed eyeopener to the class members. Never had they realized the wealth of information in support of Christianity. Consideration of 'nothing but the facts, mame' boosts Christianity into an evidential worldview. There is the daunting eyewitness testimonies and lives of the all in first century apostles, plus the plethora of circumstantial evidence which should 'perspire' us to become casemakers for HIM. Thank you members at the Pointe in Belmont, NC for making each class an exiting episode.
